yes, you can. Keep the grinder upright and be cautious not to let the ball-bearings slip out. Gently lift off the white protective spinning ring using your nails or a small sharp notch on the lid of the grinder. To reattach it, just press it back down until it snaps back into place.

There are 2 ways to clean a Bear Grinder:

a. The first is to clean the inside of the mechanism using a Q tip and alcohol solution. this quick method takes a minute.
b. The second is to soak the whole grinder in alcohol solution once removing the white protective ring and ball bearings.
